I used to think of felt as a kids’ material, much like crayons or uncooked macaroni, but it turns out I was just using the cheapest stuff imaginable, and apparently making your own felt (or “felting”) is actually a popular artsy activity for crafty people. Its popularity makes sense because felt is soft, and the effect of touching it might be similar to that of stroking a furry wall during times of stress. Check out the felting class at Bows and Arrows, 1925 Greenville Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. It costs $60 and will be taught by native Texan turned New Yorker Lizzy Wetzel.
