Planning for parenthood takes a lot of prep work. There are, of course, frequent visits to the obstetrician or midwife, frequent bathroom breaks and frequent “eating-for-two” reminders that allow moms-to-be to claim the last piece of pecan pie. Apparently it’s tough work putting together a whole human from just a couple of gametes and a lot of pecan pie. And the external physical preparation is no piece of cake: decorating a nursery, attending a zillion showers, assembling piece after piece of baby paraphernalia. How expectant fathers prepare for their impending joy/doom is the subject of a new exhibit at Bows and Arrows called Nest. Artists Michael Mazurek and Jesse Morgan Barnett respond to daddyhood through emphasis on the “process of making and building” installations and other artworks. See their works 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays through March 23 at 1925 Greenville Ave. Call 214-828-2697 or visit bowsandarrowsdeluxe.com.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Starts: Feb. 19. Continues through March 23, 2011
