Part of being a grown-up is realizing that the greatest show on earth is not necessarily the one brimming with inanity and smelling of burnt popcorn and elephant poop. Sometimes, it’s about the quieter moments, the subtle visuals and the artistry interwoven with entertainment. In other words, the beauty and majesty of the circus can be experienced minus all the caged animals and creeps in clown make-up. Cirque de la Symphonie, presented by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, is a breathtaking circus event featuring little ballyhoo but plenty of breathtaking aerialists, contortionists, jugglers and other spellbinding performers. Set to the music of the DSO and conducted by Lawrence Loh of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, this is one circus that soars without the showiness.
