Pink will forever be associated with not only the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, but the entire full-fledged fight against breast cancer. But let’s be honest: A pink ribbon only spreads the message to the people who see you wearing it. Plants and flowers can spread a message through their beauty when planted or given to others, but also naturally when you think about environmental factors like pollination and seed dispersal. From 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, North Haven Gardens, 7700 Northaven Road, hosts Paint the Town Pink!, an after-hours event featuring gardening demos, local music by JD Whittenburg, local artists and their wares, and organic and local food and drink. And, yes, there will be opportunities to buy pink plants (including the breast cancer rose “Pink Promise”) and mixed containers so you can show your neighborhood the true beauty in fighting the good fight. The $10 admission fee (as well as five percent of all sales during the event) benefits the Dallas County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. For more info, visit nhg.com/planttownpink.htm.
