All the TV lovers out there know that the weekend (at least until Sunday night) is a television wasteland, full of reality dross and reruns. But once upon a time, there was a reason to watch on Friday nights–a little block of shows called TGIF. Childhood memories are firmly anchored around dinner in front of the TV while Full House, Perfect Strangers and Family Matters made the whole family chuckle. Then came Step by Step, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Boy Meets World. And then, about 10 years ago, TGIF came to an end, leaving us with little to watch on Fridays. So instead of sitting in front of the TV, pining for sitcom theme songs of long ago, we should go out on Friday nights, you say? Hold on–here’s an even better idea. Let’s leave our house and go to Dallas Comedy House to see Buddies!, a live, improvised sitcom in the spirit of popular ’80s and ’90s TV shows. To be part of the “live studio audience,” show up at 2645 Commerce St. by 10 p.m. Friday and bring $5. Call 214-741-4448 or visit dallascomedyhouse.com.
