Siblings of famous celebrities have a stigma of being less than great when compared with their more famous brothers and sisters. Granted, some of the evidence hasn’t helped fight that stereotype. Sly Stallone’s brother Frank recently resorted to selling a gig for himself on eBay. George Clinton was a deep fried albatross that hung around Bill’s neck when he ran for president. The Olson Twins pretty much cancel each other out. Charlie Murphy, the older brother of movie star Eddie Murphy, is a notable and talented exception to this unscientific rule. He may have cemented his place in pop culture on Comedy Central’s “Chappelle’s Show” by telling the greatest Rick James story of all time, but he’s got a long show business resume that includes stand-up specials and tours and writing and acting credits for “Vampire in Brooklyn,” Adult Swim’s reboot of “The Boondocks” and the TBS sitcom “Are We There Yet?” Catch his act at the Addison Improv (4980 Beltline Rd.) at 8 p.m. Thursday, and various times throughout the weekend. Here’s hoping he pokes fun at Eddie. Tickets start at $30.
Thu., June 5, 8 p.m.; Fri., June 6, 8 & 10:30 p.m.; Sat., June 7, 7 & 9:30 p.m.; Sun., June 8, 7 p.m., 2014
