After spending five years on tour in support of his platinum hit, “Collide,” Howie Day was looking for a much-needed break. Day has been largely off the radar since 2011, making the choice to focus on writing music instead of performing live. He also dealt with some high-profile run-ins with police, but it looks as if Day is back on the straight and narrow. Day released a few EPs to mixed critical reviews in the interim years between his early-2000s heyday and the present, but he’s back on the horse and maybe better than ever. It is rumored that Day is planning to release a new album in the near future, likely with a much more acoustic, singer-songwriter feel. There should plenty of Day’s crowd-pleasing hits when he hits the Kessler, but it may well be your chance to get a sneak peek at his upcoming album, too.
