You know when someone is talking about a movie and you say, “Hmmm–I’ve never seen that,” and they shriek, “WHAT? YOU’VE NEVER SEEN THAT??!!? OH MY GOD, you HAVE TO see it!!”? And it’s really annoying? You know how sometimes you are the person on the other side of things? The annoying asshole? Well, maybe you never are, but I know that once in a while I am. Vertigo, arguably Hitchcock’s masterpiece (although it could easily be argued that he had several), is one of those movies that turns me into the aforementioned shrieking asshole. It will paralyze you in its beautiful suspense the first time around and sustain you in its style and finesse every time after. And, of course, the best way to see a great old movie is in a great old theater. Catch Vertigo midnight Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Tickets are $10. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
