Horror movies have an odd appeal. Most of them are an outlet that tap into our subconscious inferiority complexes and gives it a chance to yell at a group of human beings who truly have it worse than we ever will, “Man, it sucks to be them.” Those of us with more developed superegos may actually think we could do a better job of surviving such dire circumstances and given how the average intelligence level of most horror movie victims is just above a box of Kleenex, they may have a point. However, you never know just how poor your judgment can get when a tidal wave of adrenaline courses through your bloodstream and for once, a horror movie is giving you a chance to prove if you know how to survive the plausible scenario it is throwing at its characters. The Purge: Breakout Escape Experience, based on the upcoming movie The Purge: Anarchy, throws a group of strangers into a decrepit home just an hour before the start of the lawless purge and they must work together to solve puzzles, look for clues and find a way to escape the place before a psychopath breaks in and slaughters them all. Tickets are $20 and available at purgebreakout.com. The event is being held in a parking lot located at 2001 N. Griffin St. in Dallas.
Thursdays-Saturdays, 5 p.m. Starts: July 3. Continues through July 6, 2014
