Forget the traditional pointe shoes and pantyhose, people. You need a little spice in your life, and the Black Academy of Arts and Letters’ 6th Annual Weekend Festival of Black Dance is just the ticket. The festival, titled Rhythm and Soul of a People, features Happy Nia Dance Theatre, Djely Kunda West African Dance Company and Dallas Black Dance Theatre performing everything from African to musical theatre dance routines. The festival will also be offering a master class and takes place on Friday and Saturday at the Dallas Convention Center Theatre, 650 S. Griffin St. Tickets are $10.
