By our assessment, Addison tastes pretty good. Sure, it has some popular chains linking its restaurant row, but any town with so many good eats in such close proximity gets no complaints from us. Addison is so proud of its edible offerings that it created an annual festival — Taste Addison — to showcase them, complete with tastings, family programs and live music. Taste Addison 2011 features more than 60 restaurants for sampling and demos, including The Blue Goose, Chamberlain’s Steak and Chop House, Los Lupes and Thai Orchid. For a little friendly competition, restaurants up and down Belt Line Road have been competing since May 6 to be named winner of “Taste: the Competition,” where participating restaurants have created a special Taste Addison entree. Customers will cast their vote for the winner. And, perhaps as a cautionary tale to those offering the food to the crowds, Taste Addison’s Family Fun Zone feature a live performance of the celebrated children’s book, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. Taste Addison takes place from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday; noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at Addison Circle Park, 4970 Addison Circle Drive. Tickets are $5 to $15.
