Some people are sticklers for the rules. “Don’t pass on the left,” “eat your vegetables,” “don’t steal your friend’s car–even if you were just ‘borrowing’ it.” If one of your rules is “don’t be destructive,” you better learn to live a little, because otherwise you’ll miss a great art show. This month at Decorazon Gallery, artist Matthew Cusick presents The Defacements, an exhibition of dissected and reworked schoolbooks that create new and interesting visual messages. He is joined by artist Michele Mikesell, who presents Chapter 1: Allegory, a collection of portraits created to resemble familiar characters in our lives. Catch them both Thursdays through Sundays at Decorazon Gallery, 417 N. Bishop Ave. The opening reception takes place from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday; the exhibition continues until April 13. Sat., March 13, 6-9:30 p.m.; Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: March 13. Continues through April 13, 2010
