Have you ever stared at a piece in an art exhibit and wondered, “Why would I pay for this when my 3-year-old could easily create a reasonable facsimile for free?” Likewise, have you ever listened to a musician bent over his amp for upward of 30 minutes, fiddling with his pedals to create squealing feedback that makes no sense in the context of his band’s music? If so, it’s possible you’ll find much to enjoy in the film (Untitled), which skewers the modern art scene of New York City–though honestly, those who traffic in avant-garde art and noise music might find it funnier than anyone. Starring Dazed and Confused‘s Adam Goldberg as an avant-garde composer who falls for the owner of a chic Chelsea gallery (played by Grindhouse star Marley Shelton), the film’s plot also revolves around the dichotomy between the bizarre taxidermy-based art of Ray Barko (played by Vinnie Jones of Snatch fame), which adorns the gallery walls, and the commercial art of Josh Jacobs, which the gallery sells out of the back room to stay afloat.
