It’s a punch line, it’s a theological argument, it’s about life and death and the cycles of both: What came first? Decorazon Gallery approaches the circle of life–both natural and inflicted–as well as rebirth, with a group photography exhibition, What Came First?, featuring Minmyo Kim, Alex Leme and Jane Fulton Alt. Kim takes on “unavoidable death” and offers viewers a chance to be reborn through her bleak and beautiful farm photos. Leme’s series of egg-related works addresses all the various meanings connoted by ova. Alt, having worked with the “Look and Leave” program in the post-Katrina Ninth Ward, showcases destruction and the prospect of rebirth with direct relation to familiar humanity.
