Neil Simon wrote Barefoot in the Park, his second play and first hit, with inspiration from his early days of marriage. From the get-go, Corie and Paul Bratter, the play’s newlyweds, hit trouble setting up their first apartment–a minuscule fifth-floor walkup in a downtown Manhattan brownstone. The heat is on the fritz, the skylight has a gaping hole, their neighbor is a kook, and Corie and Paul must still adjust to married life. In 1967, Simon even turned Barefoot in the Park into a screenplay for a film starring Robert Redford. The play runs through Saturday, February 27, at the Artisan Center Theatre, 418 E. Pipeline Road in Hurst. Tickets start at $9. For tickets and showtimes, call 817-284-1200 or visit artisanct.com.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 p.m. Starts: Feb. 5. Continues through Feb. 27, 2010
