I went to a trail of lights display last year, and it was OK. But the whole time I was walking along, looking at cardboard Disney characters and rows of red and green porta-potties, I had this itchy feeling in my heart, like something was missing. So, when I heard about the Holiday Trail of Lights going on this Friday and Saturday at the Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary, 1 Nature Place in McKinney, I knew immediately that they figured out the missing ingredient: dinosaurs. That’s right, folks, their trail of lights takes place along their Dinosaurs Alive! trail, and nothing says holiday joy like a 46-foot T. rex. Come out and enjoy free hot beverages, live music and much more. Hours are 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. both days. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for kids. For more information, call 972-562-5566 or visit heardmuseum.org.

Thu., Dec. 17, 6:30-9:30 p.m.; Fri., Dec. 18, 6:30-9:30 p.m., 2009
