He always says, “Bah, humbug,” but wouldn’t it be something if Scrooge decided to spice things up by saying, “Don’t hug me.” Well, he’s about to. All Tiny Tims beware. In a unique version of A Christmas Carol, Gunner Johnson is the Scrooge of Bunyan Bay, Minnesota. Owner of the town’s lonesome bar, Gunner’s life is less than satisfying. Losing business and afraid that his wife Clara wishes she had married someone else, he takes his car out for a spin on the lake only to end up in a coma. Will visits to Christmases of the past, present and future save him from his gloomy ways? Ah, maybe. A Don’t Hug Me Christmas Carol is the sequel to Phil Olson’s Don’t Hug Me. Performances take place at Stage West, 821 W. Vickery Blvd. in Fort Worth, through January 17. Tickets are $10 to $30. For more information, call 817-784-9378 or visit stagewest.org.
Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m. Starts: Dec. 10. Continues through Jan. 17, 2009
