If you watched the Disney Channel in the late ’80s, you might remember Cannon Movie Tales, which were low-budget musical versions of fairy tales filled with famous faces: Helen Hunt in The Frog Prince, Rebecca de Mornay in Beauty and the Beast, Diana Rigg in Snow White. My all-time favorite, though, was Puss in Boots with Christopher Walken in the title role (and Jason Connery, Sean’s son, as a nice little bit of eye candy). While you’re waiting for your DVD copy to arrive (it’s available on Amazon!), check out Theatre Britain’s traditional panto version of Puss in Boots at KD Studio Theatre, 2600 N. Stemmons Freeway, No. 180. Can’t guarantee that it will even touch Walken singing “You’re Looking at a Happy Cat,” but for $18 for adults and $8 to $15 for kids, students and seniors, it’s worth a look.
