So, it’s finally Thanksgiving and you’re off from work. But the idea of going to the grocery store didn’t exactly appeal to you earlier this week when you were cramming five days worth of work into three, and the idea of hours in the kitchen doesn’t sound so awesome either. We feel ya. Perhaps instead you should pack up the fam and head to Central 214 at the Hotel Palomar, 5680 N Central Expy, where Chef Blythe Beck will whip up a delicious Thanksgiving brunch in between shots of whiskey and gargling with gravel ($45, $12 for kids 12 and under; $5 from each meal benefits Resource Center Dallas’ food pantry; Call 214-443-9339). Trendy restaurants like Nana (214-761-7470), Smoke (214-393-4141) and Craft (214-397-4111) will also offer their spins on holiday cuisine. If you’re feeling a little hot, the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine offers a Thanksgiving brunch that includes admission to their popular ICE! exhibit ($75, $30 for kids 6 to 12, free for kids 5 and under; Call 817-778-1000.) Or, if you’re feeling charitable–’tis the season, after all–you could cook up that last frozen pizza and donate the money you would’ve spent on Thanksgiving to a charity like the North Texas Food Bank (ntfb.org). Trust us, it’s a lot easier to nap after performing a good deed, and napping is what Thanksgiving is all about, fools. Have a happy one.
