Christmas lights may be a holiday tradition, but they are kind of a mystery. Sure they can brighten up the darkest corner of the world just by draping them over a house but why are we so enamored by them? The technology that goes into making them hasn’t advanced that much unless there’s one that can produce holograms that are as good as the one that put 2Pac on stage at Coachella. Vitruvian Park has found a way to make the traditional Christmas display look more like a serious artistic endeavor with their Vitruvian Lights display. They use millions of LED lights to turn 12-acres of a natural park environment into a true holiday miracle. The official lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at Vitruvian Park (3850 Vitruvian Way, Addison) and will run nightly starting at 6 p.m. through New Year’s Day. Admission is free. Mondays-Sundays, 6 p.m. Starts: Nov. 28. Continues through Jan. 1, 2014
