Cats and cat people get a crap deal when it comes to popular culture. Not only are cat owners destined for a lonely, fur-covered retirement (see “cat lady, crazy”) but movies and TV shows invariably cast the cat as the bad guy (see Cats And Dogs, Inspector Gadget.) Small steps toward kitty image rehab are being taken via the wonder of LOLcats, but there is much ground to cover before cats stop being marginalized and negatively defined as the “not dogs.” If you’re not a major Hollywood movie producer or animator, don’t worry: There is something you can do. You can go see Indoor/Outdoor at the Water Tower Theatre. The romantic comedy is about a lovelorn and misunderstood feline just trying to get her rightful piece of the catnip pie. Indoor/Outdoor runs Thursday through June 7 at the Water Tower, 15650 Addison Road in Addison. Tickets are $25 to $40, and showtimes are Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., with matinee performances on Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. Visit WaterTowerTheatre.org.
