Yes, it’s Cinco de Mayo again. No, we still don’t fully understand the fact that it isn’t Mexico’s Independence Day (that’s in September). Regardless, we still love a reason to party, and now’s as good a time as any. In honor of Mexico’s beat-down of the French, it’s time to get our party hats on, but before you break out the grill and some Modelo, be sure to get your culture via traditional folk dance as The Anita N. Martinez Ballet Folklorico, together with The Latino Cultural Center, presents Tierra Mestiza. If you can knock off work early (or even just take a long lunch), catch either the 10 a.m. or 11:45 a.m. performance of Tierra Mestiza at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St. Tickets are $5 to $15. The group also offers performances on May 7 and May 9. Call 214-828-0181 or visit anmbf.org and liveatthemajestic.com.
