Delaney boys: NYPD or no, if you can’t tell your mom you’re engaged (or married and expecting) because she’s got such a hold over you with guilt and good cooking, then we’ve either reverted several decades or you’re, how-you-say, a pussy. And that would put an unfortunate slant on the ol’ badge, so let’s hope your balls aren’t in your mom’s purse and it’s just a plot line written into the play The Riot Act (first production in the ’60s, so there you go) for an easy counterpoint to show how by play’s end Mama Delaney can change her harpy ways, stop hating Puerto Ricans (added bonus) and let her sons live their own lives. CORP Theatre puts its own spin on The Riot Act 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Plaza Theatre, 521 State St. in Garland. Tickets are $10. Visit corptheatre.com.
April 2-4, 8 p.m.; Sun., April 5, 2 p.m., 2009
