Artist Lillian Garcia-Roig specializes in landscapes, but rather than painting picturesque scenery as seen from a mountain top, she puts the audience directly in the deep woods, bathed in the claustrophobic romance of shadows and light. Her newest exhibit, Autumn Spectacles, showcases 30 of her newest works, a collection of curiously green paintings considering the exhibit’s title. Sure, the requisite reds, oranges and yellows make appearances, but there are also green palms and live oaks, certainly picturesque but neither autumnal nor much of a spectacle. But who are we to nitpick? Peep Garcia-Roig’s Autumn Spectacles from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays through February 28 at the Valley House Gallery & Sculpture Garden, 6616 Spring Valley Road. Call 972-239-2441 or visit valleyhouse.com for more info.

Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: Jan. 23. Continues through Feb. 28, 2009
