It must be rough being an artist with a name like Ron Pokrasso, but he’s been at it for more than 25 years now, making a name for himself in a world where a name quite similar to his has already been made. (Not to worry, though;I’m sure he’s formed a support group with Murray Van Grow, Clyde Manet and Anthony Warhull.) Artist Mark Smith doesn’t have that particular problem, though he may be a little off his rocker if he thinks his newest paintings “may hold some of the secrets to inner tranquility.” Likewise, a wise man once said something super profound, while painter Gary Schafter said, “the only thing extraordinary is the ordinary; it is so common it is rare.” Whatever, dude. Pokrasso, Schafter and Green team up for an exhibition through March 21 at Craighead Green Gallery, 1011 Dragon St. Gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m. Mondays, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Fridays, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
