You wouldn’t think that mid-January would be prime garden-walking time, but Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park, a 7.5-acre organic public garden in East Dallas, has found a surefire way to lure you in. Every third Saturday they have guided garden walks, and this weekend they’ve got a winner with their Terrific Teas Garden Walk. Featuring an assortment of tea varietals (green, white, oolong and the like), their experts will teach you all about tea preparation and the “tools of the tea trade” so that you can stay warm this winter with teas that you can grow and brew at home. Perfect for the people who resolved to kick their Starbucks habit, tea time is from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Texas Discovery Gardens in Fair Park, 3601 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Admission is $3 ($2 for seniors) and is appropriate for children 12 and older, with free admission for members. The garden walk will be held indoors, with an additional short outside tour available. Call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
