As local artist Erik Lee Thompson’s exhibit Black Jesus and Others comes to a close, I have to wonder who the “Others” might be. If we’re going with figures in history, I would like to see a white Jimi Hendrix. But if he’s going down the religious iconography route, then I hope he gives us Hispanics some representation too. Juan the Baptist, maybe? I’ll have to go and see for myself at Thompson’s closing reception 8 p.m. Thursday at the Magnolia Gallery, located in the West Village’s Magnolia Theater.
