Juliette, a doctor and mother, is disowned by her family after being convicted of murder. After 15 years in prison she is released into the care of her kindhearted younger sister, Lea, whom she now hardly knows. Il y a longtemps que je t’aime, or I’ve Loved You So Long if you only speak subtitle, explores Juliette’s journey as she tries to cope with a world that has gone on without her and a relationship with her sister that no longer exists. As her hardened exterior begins to erode, secrets surrounding the dark crime she committed are exposed and she is faced with the difficult task of moving on with her life. If you’re one of the people who likes to see all the Oscar contenders before the big night, you can’t miss this one. Kristin Scott Thomas’ performance (in French, to boot) will not go unnoticed. The French melodrama plays Friday through Sunday as part of Magnolia at the Modern (3200 Darnell St. in Fort Worth), an ongoing series featuring critically acclaimed films. Tickets are $8.50 or $6.50 for Modern members. Advance sales begin two hours before each show. For more information, visit themodern.org/magnolia.html.
