Ah, such fond memories of dancing through downtown Dallas in a tiny skirt in the dead of winter, shaking pom-poms around. The annual Neiman Marcus Adolphus Children’s Parade is a Dallas tradition and a fun thing to be a part of whether you’re marching, riding on a float, or drinking hot chocolate and watching from the sidewalk. It features an assortment of local celebrities, marching bands, dancers (shout out!), floats, those massive inflatable characters that take up a whole block and loads of holiday cheer. It’s also a much more exciting way for your kids to see Santa than standing in line for hours at the mall waiting for a tearful picture. Most important, it’s a huge fund-raiser for Children’s Medical Center. The 2008 Parade will take place in Downtown Dallas 10 a.m. Saturday. General admission is free and open to anyone who wants to stand or set up chairs along the parade route, which begins at the corner of Austin and Commerce streets and makes its way through downtown. Tickets for reserved bleacher seating are $20 each and are located in reserved sections on Commerce Street at City Hall Plaza.
