Waiter: “And what would you like to eat, little girl?” Girl [occasionally at a non-indoor speaking volume]: “I’ll have French toast with syrup! And strawberries! And bacon! And juice! No, wait! Eggs! This looks yummy, I’m hungry!” Waiter: “And for you?” Ballerina: “I’ll have three egg whites and black coffee.” Father [distracted by hot ballerina]: “Whatever she said…with bacon.” Mother: “[Sigh.] What she’s having…[sigh] and her legs attached to my body.” Now, this could be what happens when you have breakfast with a ballerina. But that’s just my 30-something guilt for having long ago quit the intoxicating discipline of ballet after 13 years. What will really happen, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Nasher Sculpture Center, is that little kids will have the opportunity to rub elbows and tutus with the stars of Texas Ballet Theater’s The Nutcracker. For $60 per person ($50 for Nasher members), attendees also get a gourmet brunch, kids’ crafts, horse-drawn carriage rides and a story time.
