Bridges to nowhere have been a hot political topic of late–but at Craighead-Green Gallery, the artistic “bridges” of exhibition trio David Crismon, Danna Ruth Harvey and Jeff Wilson definitely go somewhere. Crismon, working in oil painting on metal, creates new presentations via manipulation of historical works in Dislocated Histories. He says, “I want to show the process of recovering and constantly revising the past; to show history being altered into mere data.” It’s a bridge from past to present. Harvey, too, makes old new in Paint & White as she works with recycled materials and clothing that she forms, stresses and “worries” before embedding into wax as “metaphorically, a way of remembering.” Wilson’s cast bronze and fabricated steel sculpture is a bit more literal in its connection of negative and positive space.
