$10,000

The Nasher Sculpture Center may only be 5-years-old, but it totally knows how to celebrate. The museum is kicking out the jams family-style with sculpture scavenger hunts, live dance (courtesy the Dallas Black Dance Theatre), choral (Arts District Chorale) and opera highlights (Dallas Opera), museum tours, artist demos and so much more we’re a little dizzy. The best part about this festive event, however, is not that it’s free (because it so is) but that from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, the museum truly celebrates what makes it so great–that the Nasher has consistently made fine art accessible and fun for people of all ages–with even more opportunities for families to get involved in art. Quilt projects, sketching and other activities mean–you know, art in action. Patrons getting their hands dirty. And that’s awesome. Visit the Nasher (2001 Flora St.) and wish it a happy birthday this Saturday. No gifts are required, but you’ll definitely walk out rewarded. Visit NasherSculptureCenter.org.

Sat., Oct. 18, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., 2008
