Truckstock is coming this weekend to the Sylvan | Thirty development site. The folks behind Def Star, a truck that sells t-shirts and other apparel while spinning records, have thrown together what I think is the largest gathering of food trucks Dallas has seen yet.

Eighteen trucks are confirmed, according to event organizer Chad Fields, and they’ll gather on the plot of land where the old Alamo Courts Hotel once stood. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m this Saturday at 1818 Sylvan Ave.

Parties like this aren’t easy. Jasper Russo gave food truck promotion a shot last summer and the results were mixed. Customers liked being able patronize a wide variety of food trucks, but parking, seating and the blistering heat were all major challenges. Fields says a significant portion of the lot they’re using will be set aside for parking and a number of benches are already installed. The weather forecast is warm and sunny.

If this event is anything like the one at Sigel’s, then past advice should hold true again. If you want to have a good time, get there early and get your eating done before the masses arrive. Then you can chill out and enjoy the people-watching and music.

Here’s the truck list:

Butcher’s Son
Gandolfo’s NY Deli
Nammi
Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe
Rock and Roll Taco

3 Lions
Lee’s Grilled Cheese
