Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes have entertained and offended audiences as Jay and Silent Bob for nearly two decades, all the while creating a lasting cult following. But since first appearing in Clerks in 1994, the dirty duo and their alter egos aren’t exactly getting any younger. Now Mewes says he’s sober, and Smith looks leaner-and-meaner than in years past. (Maybe he’ll even be flying in on Southwest Airlines.) In August 2010, the duo launched Jay and Silent Bob Get Old as a weekly podcast promising “harrowing tales of sex, drugs and snoogans from the Rosencrantz and Guildenstern of Indie Film,” and delivering their thoughts on the sobering reality and effects of drug addiction to navigating the grown-up world to losing weight. Tonight, Smith and Mewes bring their traveling podcast to the House of Blues (2200 N. Lamar St.) as a part of the pair’s “Wordy South Tour.” Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show begins at 9. Tickets cost $39.50 for reserved floor or balcony seating or $100 for VIP floor seats, which include a meet and greet with the dirty duo following the show. Call 214-978-2583.
