Here’s the story, space monkeys. When a mysterious deviant (Brad Pitt in all his shirtless glory) invades the life and mind of our anonymous protagonist (Edward Norton), the two form an underground “fight club” where bare knuckles, blood and testosterone rule. The extracurricular activity gains popularity for its therapeutic ability to relieve inner demons, but when its participants decide to shift their attention to societal demons, our leads face the apex in their relationship, and mayhem naturally ensues. Chuck Palahniuk’s page-turner Fight Club could not have been more brilliantly adapted to the big screen. A devoted and easy-on-the-eyes cast help sex up the violence and cynicism, giving the unsettling story broader appeal. The result is a huge DVD following, the obligatory college dorm room poster and a midnight screening Friday and Saturday at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Visit landmarktheatres.com.
