Get ready to be blown away this weekend at the Festival of Balloons in Dallas, an international World Balloon Convention featuring larger-than-life masterpieces by the world’s best balloon artists. This family event is inflating into a mega balloon extravaganza with nearly a half million balloons expected to be used, 150,000 of them in competitions alone. About 600 of the world’s top balloon artists will compete in nine different categories such as balloon fashion, table arrangement, delivery bouquet, balloon hat and balloon figure. Thousands of colorful balloons will be available for purchase and personal cameras are encouraged. Look, but don’t pop, 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel, 400 North Olive St. Tickets cost $5 and children 12 and younger are admitted for free.
