High School Musical is the latest in “love conquers all” movie propaganda, and now it’s coming to town as a stage show. Once again, boy and girl fight impossible odds against cliques and the “status quo.” It’s a story that’s equal parts Grease, Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story and Tiger Beat. It has the nerve to claim a popular jock in school can have a passion for theater and that the beautiful girl is actually a nerdy brainiac. Look, we all know that the best-looking kids in any school wouldn’t come anywhere close to being in a high school play. The time has come to stop exposing our children to such lies and filth. See it anyway Wednesday through July 13 with 2 and 8 p.m. showings at the Music Hall at Fair Park. Ticket prices are $18.50 to $78.50. Visit dallassummermusicals.org for specific days, times and more information.
Tuesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m.; Thu., July 3, 2 p.m.; Sat., July 5, 2 p.m.; Sun., July 6, 2 p.m.; Sat., July 12, 2 p.m.; Sun., July 13, 2 p.m. Starts: July 2. Continues through July 13, 2008
