Remember in school when they made us identify different minerals based on stuff like their hardness, their luster, their streak, etc.? Yeah, that sucked. I mean, I’m all about minerals hanging out and looking cool, but I’d rather someone just tell me what they are. No one wins in a mineral guessing game. The second annual Dallas Fine Mineral Show is going on this weekend, and happily, there will be no quizzes involved. Check out a crazy awesome show of semi-precious mineral specimens at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 14021 Noel Road (near the Galleria), from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Approximately 50 different mineral dealers from all across the globe will be displaying and selling their unique fine minerals. (I’m rooting for hematite for best in show.)
