Maybe it’s the absence of a preposition that makes Taste Addison 2008 (instead of Taste of Addison) sound mandatory rather than suggestive, but if these organizers think they can push me into an eat-to-bloat, three-day food fest without being nice about it, they know nothing about my capacity to consume. I need to be gently coaxed into pigging out on honey-glazed pork chops, or blazing hot buffalo wings, even at the reduced prices that Taste Addison (or else) offers. Don’t demand that I scarf down food from the 50-plus Addison restaurants offering samples of their menu fare; sweet talk my sweet tooth into attendance, and I will be there sans coercion, knife and fork at the ready. And then maybe, when I feel like a fully loaded baked potato, I will allow you to soothe me into submission through some music by the Black Crowes or, for that matter, Eddie Coker, who can at least keep my kids quiet while I digest. So here’s the deal: Taste Addison 2008 transpires from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, from noon to midnight Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. For ticket prices and other information, call 1-800-ADDISON or visit addisontexas.net. It’s not like you have a choice.
Fri., May 9, 5 p.m.-midnight; Sat., May 10, noon-midnight; Sun., May 11, 12-6 p.m., 2008
