I’m not sure if it was Annie or the Carol Burnett Show that first alerted me to Her existence, but soon a snowball effect occurred. I dressed as “Carol” on Halloween, tried sketch comedy in the first grade talent show (fart jokes: works every time.) and tugged my earlobe at everything and everyone. Thursday all of that background research will finally come in handy when Carol Burnett (!!!) leads an evening of “conversation” at the Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth. That’s right. It’s everything you’ve ever dreamed about — Carol Burnett hanging out, casually rapping with you, the audience, about her iconic career and the characters who populate it. You getting to ask her questions about having her own variety show for eleven years and what she went through to become the respected comedian she is today. Maybe you’ll share an ice cream sundae? Okay, that last bit won’t happen, but wouldn’t it be amazing if it did? Buy a ticket; she’s a class act, a role-model and an all-around hilarious woman. Get it at www.basshall.com. They range from $60.50 to $137.50.

Will you step up to support Dallas Observer this year?
At the Dallas Observer, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,600 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of the Dallas Observer, now’s the time to give back.
