Those blackbirds are mouthy little broads, aren’t they? Yammering and stammering, hiring PR folks to contact famous songwriters and convincing them to write classic acoustic guitar tunes about them. You thought Paul McCartney’s “Blackbird” was a touching metaphor about the state of race relations in America? You thought wrong. You’ve been duped by the clever finagling of feathered flacks. Tsk, tsk. Here’s hoping artist Andrew J. Ortiz’s exhibit, Blackbird, was developed using a purer motivation. You can see it at Mighty Fine Arts, an artist-run gallery in Oak Cliff, and Ortiz’s dark style should fit right in with the gallery’s eclectic theme. Blackbird runs through March 30 at Mighty Fine Arts, 419 N. Tyler St. Gallery hours are 12 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, or by appointment. Admission is free. Call 214-942-5241.
