There’s a natural relation between spirits, fine food, and fine wine. Every diet expert will tell you that the first leads to the second and every gourmet will tell you that the second calls for the third. Unfortunately, there have been few places in Dallas where you can purchase a combination of the three. Until recently, that is, when very quietly, Sigel’s rearranged its superstore in Addison to accommodate 1600 square feet of gourmet foods. And though it’s not completely stocked, the array, from Venezuelan chocolate to lavender honey, specialty salsa, and imported pastas, is already impressive. Eventually, this cheese counter–in the hands of a man who put in Eatzi’s cheese department and worked at Zabar’s in New York for 12 years–might be the best in the city. For instance, where else can you find French Brie, Grafton handmade Cheddar, and Parmesan as well as seasonal rarities like a winter milk Taleggio? Not to mention a great bottle of wine at a reasonable price.
