I didn’t cry when Bobby Brown left New Edition. ‘Cause well, Bell Biv DeVoe kinda had it goin’ on for a while there. Producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the Shocklees had ol’ BBD bustin’ out with “Poison” (to which I can still sing the lyrics) and the whole Motown Philly/New Jack Swing thing didn’t die so much as it got a little dirty. Especially given contributions made to the genre by Keith Sweat. Hell, Tony! Toni! Toné! kept things fun and melodic while Sweat was all gettin’ up in some roni’s guts but trying to make it sound romantic and shit. See all of them…except Bobby, as crack is indeed wack and all, along with Guy and Aaron Hall at Nokia Theatre at Grand Prairie 7:30 p.m. Friday. Tickets are a “jacked” $42.50 to $75.
