Putting on a pair of heels can change your outlook on life. Yes, it seems silly, but the transition from tennis shoes to stilettos is on par with shedding your depression sweats, shaving your legs and wearing dresses again. It’s empowering, and that is likely why those shoes are the cornerstone footwear of the Stiletto Stampede. Well, that and because folks sprinting in high heels is scary/funny. The stampede is an annual high-heel sprint raising money for breast cancer awareness and Boob Camps, post-surgical workshops to help heal the minds and bodies of women who have undergone mastectomies. While the actual 100-yard dash event isn’t until May 24, Thursday’s High Heel Happy Hour is a chance to mingle with other go-getters while sipping pink cocktails and listening to live music at the Inwood Tavern, 7717 Inwood Road. It’s fun, free and an opportunity to put on a pair of pumps and maybe even shave up to the knee. Or not. No judgies. Running from 5 to 8 p.m., this happy hour has food sampling and door prizes. Visit stilettostampede.org for more information.
