Jay Johnson’s Tony Award-winning show Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! is entertaining for sure, but there’s a risk involved in being an audience member at any of his Tuesday through December 2 shows at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St. Let’s just say you dabbled a bit in recreational drug use in college or perhaps even high school. Maybe some of that drug dabbling involved hallucinogens that incited, I dunno, some inanimate objects to start up a conversation with you. They may have even said some philosophically enlightening or hysterical things. Not that such things ever happened to me or anyone I know, but I’m just saying it’s possible that when Johnson, the star of his own show, brings to life a chimp, a boa and a tennis ball (among other things and characters), former trip-takers might slip into what I like to call “ye olde flashback.” Not that that’s a bad thing—in fact, I’m betting comedy-induced flashes are safer than that ancient sheet of acid tucked away in a college journal. I mean, come on. Look at it. Reagan’s face is barely visible. Tickets for Jay Johnson: The Two and Only! are $15 to $67. Call 214-631-ARTS or visit ticketmaster.com.
