Anne Rice Comes Home. To Richardson.

In 1958, per the novelist’s biography, her family moved from New Orleans to Richardson, where she attended high school. After which she attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton, before moving to San Francisco and then international renown as the author of, among other things, Interview With the Vampire and the rest of The Vampire Chronicles. But she has returned today, and not for a book-signing but “to celebrate with my beloved mother in law who will be ninety years old tomorrow, and to visit the beloved Rice kin,” per her Facebook page.

Brother Bill Holston directs our attention this evening to two videos shot today in which Rice visits the Math/Science/Technology Magnet on Abrams and her former home. “This was America, the suburbs,” she says in the clip above. “It was like I had entered the shows you saw on television where American kids lived in clean, wonderful suburbs and all spoke perfect English.
