A couple of weeks back we passed on our invite to the concerts in the Cotton Bowl during Super Bowl week. But this morning, the Unfair Park in-box offered other options, among them: Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed will be taking over Centennial Hall at Fair Park on February 2 for the Aces & Angels Salute to the Troops. Clearly sent my way due to the four months I spent enlisted in the KISS Army during elementary school. Tickets run between $475 and $9,999 (for “Private Cabana in the VIP Area with the Stars,” among other perks).
There are several other events planned at Fair Park, city officials told me last week — including a Maxim bash in the Automotive Building and Centennial Hall, and a three-day Rock the Bowl concert series scheduled for the Coliseum. Haven’t seen any further info about those yet — but says here that Sean Puff Daddy P. Diddy Combs will be hosting a two-day party (called “What’s Your Fantasy”) in the Tower Building on February 5 and 6.
The day before that kicks off is the Super Bash 2011 at the Fashion Industry Gallery — otherwise known as the party “hosted” by Pam Anderson and local sports agents Jordan Woy and Chad Willis. Once again, not a cheap ticket — $500 for starters, which is good for an open bar. Feh. Better to drop coin on the VIP suites, each themed with a particular Pam Anderson endeavor — Barb Wire and Baywatch among ’em, with servers dressed accordingly. That’s classy with a capital 34C.
