If you’re looking for the proper way to lament-ebrate today’s firing of Dallas Mavericks head coach Avery Johnson — who, yes, loses his gig whilst Texas Rangers skipper Ron Washington keeps his, as so many of you have pointed out — look no further than this eBay auction featuring an item from Dallas’ other pro basketball team. Dallas-based Heritage Auction Gallery is trying to unload a 1972-’73 season game-worn Dallas Chaparrals jersey that once belonged to Mike Maloy, whose entire pro career apparently consisted of stints with the Virginia Squires and Chaparrals of the American Basketball Association, despite his having been drafted in the 10th round by the Boston Celtics in 1970. Asking price started at $425, and there have been three bids thus far for an auction ending May 3. $4.25 seems much more reasonable, to be honest. –Robert Wilonsky
