Fair warning: Last time we directed your attention to original photos from the ’36 Texas Centennial Exposition at Fair Park being sold on eBay, the three pack went for a small fortune. Bidding opened at $9.99 and closed at $147.50. Nice work.
Now, then, on to the latest find: two separate lots of original photos from the Greater Texas and Pan American Exposition, which opened in June ’37 and closed in October of that year. This four-pack, featuring an almost unrecognizable lagoon, is available for $9.99; while this trio, featuring one of the only pictures I’ve ever seen of the “Pan American Casino,” is even cheaper at $7.50. Of course, that’s the Music Hall — as evidenced by the words “The True, the Good and The Beautiful” over the entrance and the circa-1916 Sydney Smith Memorial Fountain out front.
