June was another incredibly busy month in the Dallas restaurant scene. Dallas welcomed a ton of new restaurants last month, and alas, said farewell to a few. Read on for the full list and be sure to share tips about restaurant openings or closings in the comments section below or at dish@dallasobserver.com.
Openings:
Nando’s (5934 Royal Lane): The new Tex-Mex restaurant is open at Preston and Royal.
The Oak Cliff Social Club (238 W. Davis St.): The new Oak Cliff watering hole, located in a historic building, boasts a 40-foot granite bar stocked with 150 bottles of booze.
Nora (1928 Greenville Ave.): The Afghani restaurant, located on lower Greenville, opened early this month.
Sandbar Cantina and Grill (317 Second Ave.): The new bar and grill in Deep Ellum has a massive patio where patrons can play beach volleyball.
Rosemont (2912 Elm St.): Tracy Miller’s long-awaited Deep Ellum restaurant is open for business.
Rock and Roll Tacos (2706 Elm St.): Rock and Roll Tacos is no longer a food truck; they now have their very own, non-mobile kitchen and dining room in Deep Ellum.
ACME F&B (4900 McKinney Ave.): The space that once housed Cretia’s is now home to ACME F&B.
Pepper Smash (7200 Bishop Ave.): Chef Vijay Sadhu’s restaurant and bar at the Shops at Legacy celebrated its soft opening late last month.
Wicked Po’Boys (1811 N. Greenville Ave.): Husband and wife Joey and Lan Chi Le opened the Cajun restaurant last week.
Closings:
Bicycle Cafe (7501 E.Northwest Highway): The spot Cheap Bastard once referred to as “a land where everyfuckingone acts like it’s totally normal to eat with sweating balls while wearing spandex everything” is up for sale.
Sullivan’s Steakhouse (17795 Dallas Parkway): The North Dallas steakhouse closed its doors June 30.
Margarita Ranch (5321 Mockingbird Lane): The restaurant has moved out of its Mockingbird Station location and is relocating to Las Colinas.
Coming soon:
Pearl Cup Coffee (2701 Custer Parkway ): The popular coffee shop is set to open a third location, this one in Richardson, in late August.
Jack Mac’s Swill & Grill (19009 Preston Road): The new restaurant, located where Tiramisu used to be, is supposed to open sometime this month.
Quaker Steak and Lube: “The Lube” is set to open three locations in the region within the next year.
Herrera’s (5321 Mockingbird Lane): A new Herrera’s restaurant is moving into Mockingbird Station this fall.
